End SARS National Poetry Competition, over $200 up for grab for Young Writers

 

END SARS NATIONAL POETRY COMPETITION, OVER $200 UP FOR GRAB FOR YOUNG WRITERS


Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) in collaboration with the International Human Rights Art Festival (IHRAF), USA hereby calls for entries in form of Poetry on the theme “Police Brutality, Assault and Battery”. The proposed anthology focuses exclusively on the theme of “Police Brutality, Assault and Battery in Nigeria” and only works relating to the theme will be accepted for the competition and for publication. Writers are free to write on their personal experience or those of others in the form poetry using any title of their choice.

Prizes to be won include:  First Prize: $100, Second Prize: $75, Third Prize: $50 and five honorable mentions. Submission is free and open to writers across the world. The deadline for submission is 15th of November, 2020. Intending entrants should submit the following alongside their entries: Name, age, gender, location, phone number, school, permission to publish your work in one or two sentences, and a short bio of no more than 40 words should be included in the submission. Entries should be sent to endsarsnationalpoetrycontest@gmail.com and copy to societyofyoungnigerianwriters@gmail.com.

Entry must be type-written and sent in the body of the mail; not as an attachment. Entries sent as attachment will be automatically disqualified. Entry must be the original work of the entrant. Any indication of plagiarism leads to disqualification. The subject of the email should be ‘END SARS National Poetry Contest’.
