Osogbo Writers Conference is a one day conference, designed to guide and assist Osun state up and coming writers through the process of writing. The primary purpose of this conference is to help unlock the potential of Osun state based writers as “writers” and to help them understand and realize their writing potential.

 

Osogbo Writers Conference also aims to provide the highest quality of creating writing course, support, and community for writers and readers in Osun State and beyond. The Conference will also strive to ensure that Creative Writing maintains its proper prominence in the state, and that individuals achieve their fullest potential as writers.

 

Osogbo Writers Conference welcomes all interested Osun state citizens who want to learn more about writing and publishing, no matter their age, experience, or education.

 

The conference has been slated to take place on the 21st day of August, 2021.

 

Some of the topics to cover include: Key elements of writing (Poetry, Prose and Drama), Obtaining ISBN, ISSN, character development, publishing, editing, scriptwriting, graphics design, illustration, electronic publishing, ghost writing etc.

SANNI BASHEER ABIODUN

Sanni Basheer Abiodun is the Head of Branch, National Library of Nigeria, Osun State Branch. He is a practicing Librarian; he had his first degree and Masters degree in Library and information Science at University of Ibadan. He is a Certified Librarian; he has participated in many Conferences and Workshops. He is a member of the Nigerian Library Association.

OGUNMODEDE ADELOYE

Ogunmodede Adeloye was born in the early 60s. For his Primary and Secondary Education, he attended St. Stephens Primary School, Ere Ijesa and Fakunle Comprehensive High School, Osogbo. After leaving secondary school, Ogunmodede learnt Printing Technology and practiced for many years. In 1984, he got admitted to the University of Ibadan and graduated in 1989. After graduating from the University of Ibadan, Ogunmodede Adeloye worked with many companies which include private and non-governmental organizations like Nigerian Conservation Foundation and ATMAN LTD. As at the time of this conference, Ogunmodede Adeloye is the Chief Executive Officer of OGADEL Ventures LTD., a printing and publishing outfit he established in 2005.

BUNYAMIN ZAKARIYAH SIJUWADE

Bunyamin Zakariyah Sijuwade is currently the Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Osun State Chapter. Also a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University. He is a motivational speaker and a Business Consultant. Currently, the Director of Studies of the Unique Success Academy, Osogbo, Osun State. He is also the Co-founder of LATIMA Cambridge Academy, Osogbo, Osun State. Bunyamin was appointed and inaugurated as the Chairman of the Osun State Teen Authorship Scheme of the Association of Nigerian Authors (Osun State Chapter) in 2018. He is a trusteeship member of an NGO known as Open Conscience and the Convener of Osun Youth Movement (OYM).

Mr. Ben as fondly called by the populace of Osogbo is a veteran in the field of Education. Bunyamin’s educational institute has contributed immensely by touching many lives academically. His experience in the Osun State Education Sector and expertise has affected so many souls here and abroad.

AYOOLUWA OLASUPO (IMISI)

Ayooluwa Olasupo (Imisi) is a Nigerian Poet/Writer and Medical Doctor who write from Osogbo, Osun State. Her works have appeared in Christian Literary Hub's Anthology, Afritondo, The Shallow Tales Review Literary Magazine, Eboquills, Shuzia and elsewhere.

She's the Editor-in-chief of Scent and Scepter Teen Magazine and also the curator/founder of Star and Nectar Literary Magazine; a content creator who has been a co-editor to a number of magazines and other publications, she was top 6 in the Pregnant Poems contest 2020 and was nominated on two consecutive occasions as a contributory writer to the Nigerian Medical Students Association. Her writing often conveys message of hope, courage and healing.

When she's not writing, reading or attending to her medical passion, she enjoys listening to and making music, speaking, cooking and telling children in the Neighbourhood twilight tales. As at the time of this conference, Ayooluwa Olasupo (Imisi) is the Vice Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Osun State Chapter.

OLADEJO HANEEF O

Oladejo Haneef O, also known as Harnyfman Asishana. Currently the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Osun State Chapter. Harnyfman Asishana is a graduate of English language and Education at Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti. He is a teacher, poet, writer, and motivator. He loves writing poems with every surrounding theme because his inspiration is driven by the happenings around him. He is friendly and straightforward; he is simple, and simplicity is beheld in most of his works that have found their ways to anthologies, magazines, and journals. He was one of the shortlisted Top 100 Student Poets in Nigeria by the PIN NSPP (Nigerian Students Poetry Prize) Award in 2017.

AFEEZ OLAGUNJU

 

Afeez Olagunju is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Cereus Publications. He is a graduate of Computer science. He is also a songwriter, innovator and poet. He has featured on various anthologies and has edited and published a host of works. As at the time of this Conference, Afeez Olagunju is the Auditor of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Osun State Chapter.

OSOGBO WRITERS CONFERENCE HOLDS TOMORROW SATURDAY AUGUST 21

 

 


The much awaited Osogbo Writers Conference holds tomorrow 21st day of August, 2021 at No 20, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ibuaje Micro Finance Bank Building, Pepsi Cola Area, Osogbo by 12:00PM.

 

Speakers expected at the conference include: Mr. Sanni Basheer Abiodun, Mr. Ogunmodede Adeloye, Mr. Bunyamin Sijuwade, Miss Ayooluwa Olasupo (Imisi), Mr. Oladejo Haneef and Mr. Afeez Olagunju.

 

This was contained in a press statement issued by the Coordinator of the Club, Grace Godwin in Osogbo on Saturday.

 

According to the release, the conference workshop is part of the club’s plan to support the efforts of Osun State writers and to help them effectively transition from one stage of the writing or publishing process to the next.

Young Writers Laud Ukah’s One And A Half Years Achievements In Office As ANA President, Lists Outstanding Projects And Activities Executed By Him

 

YOUNG WRITERS LAUD UKAH’S ONE AND A HALF YEARS ACHIEVEMENTS IN OFFICE AS ANA PRESIDENT, LISTS OUTSTANDING PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES EXECUTED BY HIM


 

Some Young Nigerian Writers have hailed Camillus Ukah’s exemplary leadership since taking charge as President of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA).

The group, under the aegis of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) said the Association has recorded tremendous progress in its operations in the last one and a half years.

The commendation was contained in a press release personally signed and issued to newsmen in Kano State, by Musa Sunusi Ahmad, National Publicity Secretary of the Society on behalf of the group.

The release stated that Camillus Ukah has put his criti­cs in absolute shame considering his mon­umental contributions to ANA.

Citing remarkable developmental and members-oriented projects Camillus Ukah had executed since he assumed office over one and half years ago, Musa Sunusi Ahmad said Camillus Ukah deserves accolades.

Some of the recorded achievements Include:

·         Formation of strategic panels and committees to fast track the delivery of the Association’s objectives,

·         Monitored and supervised elections held in its chapters in Oyo, Kogi, Kaduna, Osun, Kwara,  Abuja, Nassarawa, Niger, Bayelsa, Yobe etc.,

·         Established a partnership with other similar stakeholders like the Nigerian Copyrights Commission (NCC), Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC),

·         Held the 9th and 10th  Meetings of the National Executive Council Members with State Chapters’ Chairmen and Secretaries held in Ilorin Kwara State,  

·         Held its 2020 and 2021 Authors’ Groove at the Nigerian International Book Fair

·         Fully participated in the burial of the former ANA President, Prof. Jerry Agada,

·         Fully participated in the burial of Late Prof. J.P. Clark. The 2020 Edition of ANA Review was dedicated to the memory of the late literary sage.

·         Held its 3rd Conference/ Creative Workshop in partnership with Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu –Alike Ikwo in Ebonyi State with the theme “Re-imagining Belonginess in 21st Century Africa” which was delivered by Dr. Chika Unigwe,

·         Fast-tracking development and construction activities on the ANA Land in Mpape, Abuja where presently the basic structures originally earmarked to be built on the land are in various stages of completion.

·         Three distinguished members of the Association (Chinedum Nwajiuba, Prof May Nwoye and Prof Mallam Al-Bishak) were inducted as fellows of the Association at the 39th International Annual Convention which held in Ilorin, Kwara State in December,2020.

·         Fully on ground at the Valedictory Lecture and Retirement from the Service of University of Ilorin organized in honour of Prof. Olu Obafemi.

·         Partnered with Bayelsa State First Lady on A-Book-A-Week Project.

·         Introduced the Chinua Achebe Prize for Literature endowed by the Anambra State Government in honour of Late Chinua Achebe with a million naira cash reward,

·         Introduced Prof. Jerry Agada Prize endowed by Prof. Moses Tsenongu in honour of the former President of the Association, Prof. Jerry Agada.

·         Unveiled Forty Thousand Books Project to Mark ANA’s 40th Anniversary

·         Took ANA@40 Celebration to Ibadan, Yenagoa and Port-Harcourt,

·         Introduced the Ikeogu Poetry Prize for Teen Poets endowed by the family of the Late Poet,

·         Launched/Commissioned Imodoye Writers Enclave (Ile Iwe) in Ilorin. A Private initiative of Dr. Usman Oladipo Akanbi, former Chairman of ANA Kwara. Imodoye Writers Enclave (Ile Iwe) was built for the use of young and professional writers across the country wishing to enhance and hone their creative writing skills. The initiative hopes to take after Dr. Wale Okediran’s Ebedi International Writers Residency in Iseyin

·         Hosted the 39th International Convention of the Association in Ilorin, capital of Kwara State.

·         Upgraded and moved ANA Website from www.ana-nigeria.com to www.ananigeria.org

·         Fully participated in the burial of the former ANA National Secretary, Hyacinth Obunseh,

While calling on ANA President and his team not to relent but continue to introduce more positive initiatives, the body also urged relevant stakeholders to continue to extend their support to him.
