The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW GLOBAL) has congratulated Mr. Dare Oluwatuyi, the Managing Director of CSS Bookshops Limited, President of the Booksellers Association of Nigeria (BAN), and Chairman of the Nigeria Book Fair Trust (NBFT), on the occasion of his 63rd birthday.  

In a statement issued by SYNW GLOBAL, the writers described Oluwatuyi as a distinguished figure in the Nigerian book industry, whose dedication to promoting literacy, publishing, and bookselling has been instrumental in advancing literary culture in Nigeria. 

They commended his unwavering commitment to the growth of the book ecosystem, particularly through his leadership of the Nigeria International Book Fair.

IAF SECRETARY GENERAL KEVIN FITZGERALD EXPRESSES GRATITUDE TO SYNW, ANTICIPATES COLLABORATIVE FUTURE

 

Kevin Fitzgerald, the newly appointed Secretary General of the International Authors Forum (IAF), has expressed his gratitude to the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) for their warm congratulatory message.

In a letter dated March 9, 2025, Fitzgerald thanked the President of SYNW, Wole Adedoyin, for his kind words and the society’s support upon his emergence as IAF Secretary General.

It will be recalled that SYNW Global, under the leadership of Wole Adedoyin, had recently sent a formal message of congratulations to Fitzgerald following his appointment. Writers Mourn the Passing of Mrs. Mabel Segun

 WRITERS MOURN THE PASSING OF MRS. MABEL SEGUN

Writers under the aegis of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW Global) have expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Mrs. Mabel Segun, a literary icon, prolific author, and one of Nigeria's foremost female writers.

This was contained in a press release issued by the President of the Society, Wole Adedoyin, describing Mrs. Segun's death as a great loss to the Nigerian literary community and the global world of letters.

The late Mrs. Mabel Segun recently celebrated her 95th birthday in Lagos, a milestone that highlighted her immense contributions to literature and education both in Nigeria and beyond.

According to the statement, Mrs. Segun was a trailblazer whose works inspired generations of writers, especially young female authors. Her dedication to children's literature and advocacy for women's empowerment remain indelible legacies.

The Society noted that her timeless works such as My Father's Daughter and The First Corn were not only literary masterpieces but also cultural mirrors that reflected the richness of African traditions and the resilience of womanhood.

WRITERS GREET MUSLIMS AS RAMADAN COMMENCES

 

Writers under the aegis of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW Global) have extended heartfelt greetings and warm wishes to Muslims across the country as the holy month of Ramadan begins. The society expressed its collective joy and solidarity with Muslim faithful as they embark on the sacred period of fasting, prayer, and reflection.

The message, issued by the President of the Society, Wole Adedoyin, was shared through a press statement released from Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State. The statement emphasized the significance of Ramadan as a time for spiritual renewal, self-discipline, and communal solidarity, all of which are in line with the core values of peace and unity that the society strives to promote.

In the statement, Adedoyin noted that Ramadan offers an opportunity for all Nigerians, regardless of their faith, to reflect on the importance of charity, compassion, and unity.
