The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Ayòbámi Adébáyò on her remarkable achievement of being longlisted for the prestigious 2023 Booker Prize.

The SYNW President, Wole Adedoyin, conveyed the organization's delight in a statement issued in Ibadan on Friday.

Nigerian novelist Ayòbámi Adébáyò's extraordinary literary work, "A Spell of Good Things," has earned its well-deserved place on the longlist for this year's edition of the esteemed Booker Prize. Known for its global recognition and a generous cash award of £50,000, the Booker Prize annually celebrates outstanding fiction in the English language, written by authors from any nationality, and published in the UK.

Ayobami Adebayo's inclusion in the Booker Prize longlist marks a momentous occasion for Nigerian literature, as she becomes the fifth Nigerian author to achieve this distinction.
