CAMPUS WRITING AND JOURNALISM WEBINAR
This webinar offers students and campus writers’ insights and information about campus writing and journalism for successful writing in Nigerian institutions of higher education.
The webinar will also explore some of the writing skills students can build upon. It will also help students build the kinds of careful writing skills that are needed to write their papers, essays, articles, reports etc.
Finally, the webinar will focus on writing for publication for undergraduate students which will cover the differences between course papers and publications, how to write for an interdisciplinary audience, and considerations of format, genre, and purpose.

MUHAMMAD AUWAL IBRAHIM
Muhammad Auwal Ibrahim is a multiple award-winning journalist based in Gombe State, Nigeria with experience in fact checking, investigative, ICTs and development journalism. In 2021 alone, he took 4 highly competitive journalism awards home at national and international levels: he either won or was shortlisted for West African Media Excellence Conference and Awards (WAMECA), Otufodunrin Journalists Award, Youths Digest Journalism Awards and international Centre For Investigative Reporting (ICIR) Investigative/Data Journalism Awards.
He becomes the youngest journalist that ever makes the shortlist of the prestigious West African Media Excellence Conference and Awards (WAMECA) 2021 ever at 20 years old, since the inception of the award, five years back in Ghana. Not only that, he made the nomination list along with PhD, masters and bachelor degrees holders from the various west African countries, despite not having any. In addition to this, he was nominated with a visiting scholar at University of Oxford in the same category.
He is an AIJC 2020 fellow, Wits University, Johannesburg and 2021 fellow of the Media Foundation For West Africa's Media For Change Network. He was shortlisted for the Climate Tracka's COP26 Fellowship 2021 and Nigeria Health Watch Solutions Journalism Fellowship 2022. He is also an international award-winning poet and playwright.
He was among the 4 lucky winners of free ticket to participate at DW Global Media Forum Ticket 2022 in Bonn, Germany.
Ibrahim's investigative stories and opinion articles have appeared in Nigeria's leading investigation newspaper, Premium Times, The International Center For Investigative Reporting (ICIR), The Nation Newspaper, Abuja Business Reports, Edutorial, Petals News, Daily Trust, Peoples Daily, Opinion Nigeria and a good number of other Nigerian newspapers.
While his creative work has appeared or forthcoming in AFAS Review, New Ink Review, Praxis and Tuck online magazines, 5th Wall Press, Cajun Mutt Press, the word finesse, Poetry Planet, Summer Rain Anthology, the word finesse, New Generation poets anthology, and elsewhere.
RIDWAN ADELAJA
RIDWAN ADELAJA is a multimedia journalist, chartered public manager, PR specialist, and corporate copywriter with well over 2000 news stories across various news platforms, focusing on startups, VCs, products, founders, political developments and innovations around the African continent.
Started out as a campus journalist during his undergraduate studies at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Ridwan is a senior research writer, reporter and news editor –currently serving as tech news correspondent at Ripples Nigeria, a digital, investigative media outfit headquartered in Ikoyi, Lagos.
At work, Ridwan brings to fore his background in print, digital and broadcast media, having served in various capacities with leading media houses to include Ventures Africa, Nairametrics, MCR, CBA TV, NTA and Quillcastle Nigeria.
