SYNW GREETS MUSILIMS ON EID AL-FITR

 

The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) has sent warm greetings to the Muslim faithful in Nigeria and across the world as they celebrate Eid al-Fitr. This important Islamic festival marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, which is a time of fasting, prayer, and reflection.

In a statement released today, the SYNW praised the dedication and commitment of Muslim Nigerians to their faith and to the ideals of peace, love, and unity that are central to Islam. The organization also highlighted the important contributions that Muslims have made to the cultural and social fabric of Nigeria, and urged all Nigerians to continue to work together to build a more peaceful and prosperous country.

"As we celebrate Eid al-Fitr, we join our Muslim brothers and sisters in Nigeria and around the world in giving thanks to Allah for the blessings of Ramadan and for the many gifts that we have received," said Mr. Wole Adedoyin, President of the SYNW. "We are proud to be part of a country that is home to such a vibrant and diverse community of Muslims, and we look forward to continuing to work together to build a better future for all Nigerians."

The SYNW also used the occasion to call on all Nigerians to rededicate themselves to the values of peace, unity, and justice that are so essential to the well-being of our society. The organization emphasized the need for greater understanding and tolerance among all religious and ethnic groups, and urged Nigerians to reject any form of extremism or violence.

"At this time of great importance for our Muslim brothers and sisters, we must all come together as one people, united in our commitment to building a better Nigeria," said Mr. Adedoyin. "We must reject the forces of division and hatred that seek to tear us apart, and instead embrace the values of love, understanding, and compassion that are at the heart of our shared humanity."

The SYNW also expressed its appreciation for the efforts of the Nigerian government and security agencies to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations. The organization urged all Nigerians to cooperate with the authorities and to remain vigilant in the face of any potential security threats.

"We are grateful to the Nigerian government and security agencies for their tireless efforts to protect the safety and security of all Nigerians during this important festival," said Mr. Adedoyin. "We urge all Nigerians to remain vigilant and to work together to ensure that this celebration is a time of peace, joy, and unity for all."

The SYNW also used the occasion to call on the government to do more to support the arts and cultural sectors in Nigeria, and to promote greater understanding and appreciation of the country's diverse cultural heritage. The organization emphasized the important role that the arts and culture play in fostering social cohesion and national unity, and urged the government to invest more resources in these vital sectors.

"As a society of writers and artists, we know firsthand the power of culture to bring people together and to promote understanding and appreciation of our shared humanity," said Mr. Adedoyin. "We call on the government to do more to support the arts and cultural sectors in Nigeria, and to recognize the important role that these sectors play in promoting peace, unity, and development."
