SYNW Extends Warm Eid-El-Kabir Greetings to Muslims

SYNW EXTENDS WARM EID-EL-KABIR GREETINGS TO MUSLIMS

The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) has extended warm greetings and felicitations to Muslims across Nigeria and around the world on the joyous occasion of Eid-El-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha, a significant festival in the Islamic calendar.

This message of goodwill and solidarity was conveyed by SYNW President, Wole Adedoyin, in a press statement released today.

Eid-El-Kabir, which translates to "Feast of the Sacrifice," commemorates the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. It symbolizes the values of unity, sacrifice, and spiritual renewal, which hold profound significance not only for Muslims but for humanity at large.

The SYNW acknowledges the importance of this auspicious occasion, which brings families, friends, and communities together in prayer, reflection, and acts of charity. It is a time for Muslims to deepen their faith, express gratitude, and demonstrate compassion towards others, especially those less fortunate. SYNW applauds these acts of kindness and encourages all Nigerians to embrace the spirit of generosity and benevolence exemplified during this festive period.

As an organization committed to promoting youth development, literary excellence, and cultural heritage, SYNW recognizes the role of literature in fostering interfaith dialogue and understanding. We encourage writers, poets, and artists to utilize their creative talents to celebrate the diverse cultural fabric of our nation, fostering a sense of unity, tolerance, and mutual respect among all Nigerians.

SYNW recognizes the challenges and hardships faced by many individuals and families, particularly in these trying times. We call on Nigerians to lend a helping hand to those in need, irrespective of religious or ethnic backgrounds, thereby reinforcing the spirit of Eid-El-Kabir and embodying the principles of compassion and empathy.

On this occasion, the SYNW reaffirms its commitment to promoting literary excellence, fostering youth development, and creating platforms for writers to express their creativity. We remain dedicated to preserving and promoting Nigeria's rich cultural heritage through various literary initiatives, conferences, workshops, and collaborative endeavors.

SYNW seizes this opportunity to wish all Muslims a joyous, peaceful, and blessed Eid-El-Kabir. May this celebration bring happiness, prosperity, and renewed faith to every home and community. Let us continue to build bridges of understanding, unity, and cooperation across Nigeria, regardless of our diverse backgrounds.

In a statement released by the President of SYNW, Wole Adedoyin, the organization expressed its gratitude to Erelu Bisi Adeleye Fayemi, emphasizing the significance of her support.

The March/April class was represented by Darasimi Adeoye, Coordinator of the Abeokuta Book Club, while Chidinma Mary Ndukwo, former Secretary of the Ibadan Book Club, represented the June/July class. Both writers benefited greatly from Erelu Fayemi's generosity.

The Ebedi International Writers Residency, established in 2010, has consistently provided a conducive atmosphere for writers from Nigeria and across Africa to focus on their creative works.

The facility has already hosted 180 writers from 12 African countries, and its impact on the literary landscape has been remarkable.

Erelu Bisi Adeleye Fayemi, an eminent feminist thinker, gender specialist, policy advocate, and writer, sponsored the female residents of the March/April and June/July classes through her ABOVE WHISPERS FOUNDATION.

Erelu Fayemi's long-standing friendship with the Ebedi Residency led to this collaboration, creating an opportunity for the sponsorship of female writers in various residences at Ebedi in 2023.

The SYNW lauds Erelu Bisi Adeleye Fayemi for her remarkable contributions to the literary community.

As the author of acclaimed books such as 'Speaking above a Whisper' (2013), 'Speaking for Myself' (2013), 'Loud Whispers' (2017), and 'Where is your Wrapper' (2020), Erelu Fayemi has consistently used her voice to promote gender equality, social justice, and women's empowerment.

The SYNW believes that initiatives like the Ebedi Residency and the support provided by individuals like Erelu Bisi Adeleye Fayemi play a vital role in nurturing and promoting literary talent in Nigeria. Such collaborations between literary organizations and philanthropists create avenues for writers to develop their craft and contribute meaningfully to society.

The Society of Young Nigerian Writers expresses its deep appreciation to Erelu Bisi Adeleye Fayemi for her sponsorship and urges other individuals and organizations to emulate her exemplary support for young writers.

It is through such collective efforts that the literary landscape in Nigeria can thrive and produce even more remarkable literary works.
