WRITERS CELEBRATE ANA PRESIDENT, USMAN OLADIPO AKANBI, ON HIS 56TH BIRTHDAY AND APPOINTMENT AS NCC AMBASSADOR
Writers under the aegis of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) have extended their heartfelt congratulations to the President of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Dr. Sheu-Usman Oladipo Akanbi, on his 56th birthday.
The Society also celebrated his recent appointment as an Ambassador of the Nigerian Copyrights Commission (NCC), acknowledging his contributions to the literary and academic spheres.
This commendation was contained in a press statement issued by the President of SYNW, Wole Adedoyin, in Ibadan on Tuesday. The statement described Dr. Akanbi as a leader who has consistently demonstrated a commitment to advancing the cause of Nigerian writers and intellectual property rights.
Dr. Akanbi, a prolific writer and academic, is also the founder of the Imodoye Writers Enclave, a hub dedicated to nurturing young literary talents in Nigeria. His leadership at ANA has been marked by initiatives aimed at promoting literary excellence, preserving Nigeria’s cultural heritage, and fostering a sense of community among writers.
In addition to his literary pursuits, Dr. Akanbi is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management at the University of Ilorin. With nine years of university teaching, research, and administrative experience, he has made significant contributions to the field of Agricultural Production Economics, Development Economics, and Agribusiness.
His academic credentials are impressive, with over thirty-five scholarly publications in respected journals, conference proceedings, and books. He has successfully supervised more than fifty undergraduate students and six master’s students and is currently supervising three Ph.D. candidates. Dr. Akanbi’s academic achievements also include being a beneficiary of the Nigerian Research Fund grant.
The Society of Young Nigerian Writers commended Dr. Akanbi for using his dual roles as an academic and a writer to inspire young Nigerians. His establishment of platforms like the Imodoye Writers Enclave demonstrates his dedication to the mentorship and development of emerging writers.
SYNW also called on writers and creatives to emulate Dr. Akanbi’s commitment to excellence and his passion for the arts. The Society reaffirmed its support for his endeavors and pledged to collaborate on projects that will further the interests of Nigerian writers.
SYNW finally wished him continued success, good health, and many more years of impactful service.
